William Hill Deal With Probability Off

Thursday, November 3rd, 2011

William Hill has been having an interesting time lately, with lots of highs and lows and rumours all around. The latest news is that they will not be making an offer on Probability, a mobile specialist. The news was revealed earlier, and its not surprising that many have speculated that the reason being for this latest outcome is the online joint venture with Playtech, which is William Hill Online.

A statement to the stock exchange revealed very little information, and stated that William Hill did not intend to make an offer. Since then, there has been no other comments on their latest move.

The joint venture that Playtech has seems to be the culprit as to why this deal did not go down. Playtech owns a mobile specialist already, called Mobenga. Because of this, William Hill will have to seek a partnership with another mobile specialist, or they can wait for their partnership with Playtech to end. From there, William Hill will be able to make a deal with Probability.

Mobile gambling has really taken off this year. With the number of smartphone users continually increasing, being able to offer mobile gambling has become a top priority to many online casino operators.

Microgaming Release New Slots For October

Thursday, October 6th, 2011

Microgaming has three new slot games coming out this month, according to a media advisory they released recently. One of the games is Lucky Witch, which some people might already have heard about, and the other two games are Victorian Villain and Hells Grannies. All three new games will be available on the QuickFire platform, and only Lucky Witch will make an exception and also be available on the Viper and Flash platforms.

Lucky Witch is coming out just in time to celebrate Halloween. With it’s Halloween theme, it’s the perfect slot game to play for those adults looking for a ‘treat’. The Lucky Witch functions as the wild in the game, and there’s also the Cauldron Scatter that triggers a bonus game.

The other two slot games coming out are being offered exclusively on the QuickFire platform, which Microgaming has been more focused on lately. Victorian Villain and Hells Grannies may not be Halloween themed, but they are fun! Victorian Villian features a female detective in search for a wanted murderer, and Hells Grannies features some hardcore grannies in a comic style slot game.

It’s nice to see some original slot games coming out, especially after a slew of so many superhero themed games.

Full Tilt Poker Has Licenses Revoked

Thursday, September 29th, 2011

The Full Tilt Poker saga continues. Last week, Full Tilt Poker had their hearing in London with the Alderney Gambling Control Commission, and no surprise here, it really didn’t work out in their favour. It was way too quiet last week, as the hearing went on, the gambling industry held their breath in anticipation of what would come to be. It was not just the gambling industry sitting on the edge of their seats, it was also former Full Tilt Poker players, especially the jilted ones, that are owed quite a substantial amount of money. The Alderney Gambling Control Commission most have known how curious the public was, because they posted on their website that they would soon post information open the end of the hearing.

After what seemed like eternity, the six days of hearings are done and over with. No surprise here, but Full Tilt Poker didn’t come out on top. The Alderney Gambling Control Commission determined that Full Tilt Poker knowingly misled regulators about their operations, and since they don’t have any operating integrity, they do not deserve to have their licenses. The Alderney Gambling Control Commission announced today that all of Full Tilt Poker’s licenses were revoked.

That really is a kick in the head for Full Tilt Poker, but is it really that surprising? Full Tilt Poker’s licenses were all put on hold back at the end of June, and it made as much sense then as it does now.

Microgaming’s New Halloween Online Slot Game

Friday, September 16th, 2011

Just in time for Halloween, Microgaming is releasing a Halloween themed slot game called Lucky Witch in October, which is expected to go live the first week of the spooky month.

Summer days may be long gone, but that doesn’t not mean there aren’t cool games to look forward to, and thanks to Microgaming for proving that to us. It certainly is a treat to look forward, with Halloween fast approaching.

It may only be a month away, but now’s the time that Halloween stuff is making its appearance on store shelves and clothing racks. When it comes to original games, Microgaming always delivers, and Lucky Witch will be no exception.

This 5 reel 15 payline video slot game is no ordinary slot game! With a neat Hallowen theme, and a name like Lucky Witch, how can it be an ordinary game!? Players will enjoy the effects from this magical and mystical game, and because its choked full of features and bonuses, it’ll be hard to play anything else. With bonuses, rewards, free spins, scatters, and multipliers, despite having a unique theme, it still plays like a traditional video slot game.

Enjoy this treat of a slot game when it comes out!

Latest Developments In Online Gambling

Thursday, September 15th, 2011

Last week, Greece, The Netherlands and Italy made headlines in regards to online gambling. Significant changes are afoot, and the face of online gambling in Europe is quickly changing.

News from Greece about the looming deadline at the end of the month for the government to install measures is the latest development. One of the measures is to legalize online gambling, and award new gaming licenses, including extending OPAP’s monopoly beyond 2020. It is expected that OPAP pay the required license fees, which rings in at a staggering €950 million. A contract needs to be drawn up, and the Greek government will likely not see any of those fees before the end of September.

Another interesting tidbit is that the Greek government owns 34% of OPAP. There were plans to sell their stake at the end of the year, but now there is doubt that the government will do so, especially because politicians don’t want to let go of a cash generating organization.

In The Netherlands, members of parliament are divided over proposals to legalize online gambling.

Italy is enjoying the benefits of legalizing online gambling, and the number of gamblers rose 21.45%, which bring the worth of the industry to €41.9 billion. Hopefully Greece and The Netherlands will be reaping the rewards of legalizing online gambling soon, just like Italy has.

Betclic Recieves eCOGRA Seal

Tuesday, September 13th, 2011

Betclic recently received the eCOGRA seal of approval. The online gambling company joins 146 other online gambling sites that have also been given the safe and fair seal of approval from eCOGRA.

Commenting on audit and review of Betclic, Bradley Khoury said “The cooperation and dedication of the Betclic compliance personnel accompanied by unrestricted access to knowledgeable staff and transparent information facilitated a highly comprehensive review. The organisation demonstrated strong resilience and noteworthy commitment to compliance.”

The eCOGRA chief executive commented that Betclic didn’t just get their seal of approval, they also made the standards of the European Gaming and Betting Association.

After Black Friday rocked the gambling industry back in April, transparency has become very important to players and those in the gambling industry.

Back in 2002, eCOGRA was formed by 888.com and Microgaming. It stands for e-Commerce and Online Gaming Regulation and Assurance. The reason as to why 888.com and Microgaming formed eCOGRA was because players needed much more protection than was available in the market at the time, and a mediator for the online gambling industry was also needed to settle disputes. It was important to the founders that a list of standards and practices for the online gambling industry be created, and from this, the “Safe and Fair” seal came about, with the first one being awarded in 2004.
